Vitiligo Tattoo fast questions and answers
What is vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a condition which affects the skin. Melanin is the substance which gives colour to our hair, skin and eyes. For people with vitiligo melanin production gets disrupted. The most obvious signs of this condition are white patches on the skin where the melanocyte cells have failed to deliver melanin.
Scientists have categorised vitiligo as an autoimmune disorder because they don’t know why vitiligo destroys melanocytes and no external cause seems to be responsible.
How can micropigmentation help me?
Micropigmentation can be a great help to those who suffer with vitiligo. An advanced technician can expertly blend skin-coloured pigments to create a camouflage to balance the affected areas with the surrounding healthy skin.
This usually requires a few sessions in order to achieve satisfactory results as we need to see how the pigment has healed in the skin, how much has been retained and also to blend with the surrounding skin.
How is it done?
Colour pigment is implanted under the skin with a digital state-of-the-art hand piece. With our technique results are long lasting and trauma is kept to a minimum. By using micropigmentation on the white patches where pigment has been lost vitiligo can be camouflaged by reducing the contrast between pigmented and non pigmented skin.
Is it safe?
An in-depth consultation will be carried out before any treatment.
The procedure is both safe and medically approved when carried out by a competent technician. Renée has undertaken rigorous training in all aspects of the preparation and application of micropigmentation.
The products used at The Dermatography Clinic have a history of long-term use. Developed in Europe by the leading manufacturers of digital machines and permanent make-up consumables, our pigments are of the purest quality and carry a certificate to verify hygiene and pharmaceutical grade.
What is the healing period like?
During the first few days after the procedure is performed the pigmented area will look a little darker than your desired shade. However, after the dryness flakes off, the colour will lighten by up to 30%.
Detailed aftercare instructions will be given specific to each treatment.

Is vitiligo camouflage for me?
At The Dermatography Clinic we specialise in vitiligo camouflage, a paramedical micropigmentation procedure designed to hide the visible effects of this common skin condition.
Vitiligo is an area of skin where there is usually no pigment. It is often categorised medically as ‘facial marks’ like freckles and birthmarks, portions or areas of the skin containing a different level of pigment from the surrounding skin. Vitiligo, however, can occur anywhere on the body and can be seen as either dark or light patches. Vitiligo can be random and unpredictable in the way it moves, changes, appears or disappears.
At The Dermatography Clinic we provide solutions to problems and are clear about expectations as we are sensitive to the needs of our clients and the need to promise achievable results. Sadly, micropigmentation is not the ideal solution for everyone. Every person is unique and we practice vitiligo camouflage treatments under a very strict set of rules based on our own experience in dealing with this condition.
When considering paramedical micropigmentation, it is important to understand the basic principles. Micropigmentation is generally used to darken areas and pigment is translucent, therefore only lighter areas or areas without pigment can be darkened. Dark areas cannot be lightened.
An in-depth consultation is carried out before your treatment to discuss your specific needs and treatment aims, and to evaluate and determine suitability.
Testimonials
Before I met Renee I had given up all hope of finding something to help me. I ended up using a ladies black eyeliner pencil every day to cover the vitiligo. Since having the treatment I have thrown that pencil away. My confidence was low before and now I’m going out with a model. I feel good and I can face life head on.
The results are amazing and it’s the solution I’ve always been looking for.
